Italian Culture Minister Dario Franceschini announced changes to opening hours and entry fees at State-run museums and monuments, that will come into effect from July 1.

Here what’s new:

  • Free entrance for under18s and reductions for young people between 18 and 25.
  • Opening times of major sites, like Coliseum and Uffizi Gallery, will be extended by two hours (until 10.00 pm) on Fridays. Here the list of the sites.
  • Every year the initiative “Una Notte al Museo” (Museum Night), with late-night openings for a ticket price of 1 euro, will be held twice.
